About Hunting Books

We created Hunting Books to give Australian hunters and shooters access to a broad range of books at great prices. We found ourselves frustrated with the range available in Australia until now. Mainstream bookshops don't stock hunting titles at all. Gun shops, because they don't specialise in books, can only afford to have a few titles on hand, at generally unattractive prices. So we decided to do something about it!

It's our aim to make Hunting Books your one stop shop for any book related to hunting, shooting or firearms. We can get any book that's in print. If we don't have it listed, let us know and we'll add it to our catalogue.

Hunting Books is 100% Australian owned and operated (ABN 40 853 462 747), located in regional Victoria.

Pricing

Except for sale items, we sell Australian books at the recommended retail price. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD).

With the Aussie dollar doing so well, we can also offer you great prices on imported items. Our prices are calculated by converting the US retail price to Australian dollars, then adding a small amount (on average, about $2) to cover the cost of importing them. Please bear in mind when you receive an imported product with a price printed on it, this relates to the US retail price, in US dollars.

Payment

We accept payment by Mastercard, Visa, direct bank transfer, cheque or money order. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD). We will wait for funds to clear before we post your items. You can track the progess of your order through the My Account feature.

We go to great lengths at Hunting Books to ensure you are able to pay securely. If paying by cheque, money order or bank transfer, your banking details never pass through our website. For credit card payments, your information is sent using industry-standard SSL encryption, ensuring it is safe from eavesdropping as it passes from from your computer to our bank, via our web server. Once your credit card details have been sent to the bank, no trace of them remains on Hunting Books systems.

Postage Costs and Times

We send your order to you through Australia Post. We calculate the postage using the total weight of your order and your postcode, based on Australia Post Parcel rates.

We keep an extensive stock, consisting of all our Australian and New Zealand books and the more popular of our American and British titles. These are ready to post straight away. Other books are sourced from overseas suppliers who specialise in rapid delivery-- normally within 7-10 days. We are only able to post your order once we have received all of your items. Please check the item descriptions to find out how long this will take.

How long will your order take to arrive? To work this out you need to add together (1) how long it will take for us to receive all the items, if we don't have them already and (2) how long Australia Post will take to deliver from us to you. Item (1) can be found by checking the item descriptions. Item (2) can be checked on the Australia Post website; parcels are posted from postcode 3757 (Victoria).

Privacy policy

At Hunting Books, we value your privacy. We only collect your name, address, phone number and email address for the purpose of processing your order. Under no circumstances will we send you unsolicited mail, or provide your personal details to any other party. Statistics gathered on website traffic do not identify individual users.

Returns policy

If you receive an item other than what you ordered, you will have the choice of a refund or credit note. The amount will include the price of the item plus postage, both ways. You must inform us within 30 days of delivery. Note, this does not apply if you ordered the wrong item, despite it being clearly described on the site.

If your item is damaged in transit, you may return the item to us and a replacement will be sent. You must inform us within 48 hours and return the item as soon as possible.

If you want to return an item for any other reason, you may do so at your expense. As long as the item arrives at Hunting Books in resaleable condition, you will receive a credit note for the price of the item.

Please package any items for return carefully to prevent damage, and include a copy of your invoice or order number. Items should be sent to the following addess:
